Paola Junior Accepted to the National School of Sports

Sarah Fava, one of the most promising juniors in our club was recently accepted to the National School of Sports. This is the first school of its kind in Malta, where sports training and academic education will coexist harmoniously. In this way, students who have a big potential of succeeding in a sporting discipline will be given greater opportunities to specialise in sport from a young age, without missing out on the normal academic studies provided in secondary schools.The aim of the National Sport School is to lead its students to a dual career path, namely an education which ensures success in sport as well as in working life.

Still only 13 years old Sarah has already achieved some great results. Some of her recent achievements are;

Captain of the Junior Mixed Team which won the competition undefeated.
Malta National Championships, Women’s Doubles: Runner-up
Under 13 Singles, Mixed and Doubles Winner

Da Vinci Individual Leagues:
Singles (Division 5) – Winner
Doubles (Division 4) – Runner-up
Mixed (Division 4) - Runner-up

Sarah was also able to achieve good results overseas in the Meran International Tournament 2014.She took part in both the Singles and Doubles categories. In the Singles she came first in her group by winning all her three games and advancing to the quarter-finals where she lost in a very close three-set match. She also managed to reach the quarter-finals in the doubles category.

We hope that more juniors follow the foot-steps of Sarah and enroll in this school so that they can keep improving their game while also not reducing the importance of education. Paola BC would like to wish Sarah the best of luck.
