Paola BC Place First and Second in the Junior Mixed League

This year for the first time in Malta, Badminton Malta organized the Junior Mixed Team league. There were 4 teams in total. Two of our own, Bloom Paola BC and Paola Jr BC one formed by the Badminton academy members which most of them were also from our club and one from B’kara.

The first 2 matches of the tournament featured our two teams up against each other and the B’kara team against the Academy team. Unfortunately Matthew Abela was sick and his absence left a huge impact on Bloom Paola BC losing the game 3-2 against Paola Jr BC. In the other match B’kara had an easy win over the academy winning all of the matches.

Due to a lot of people being either sick or busy due to exams the match between Paola Jr Bc and B’Kara was postponed while Bloom Paola BC had gained their first win by beating the Academy team 5-0. Bloom Paola BC played their last match against B’kara and won 3-2.

This left 2 remaining games for Paola Jr BC against both the Academy and the B’kara match which was postponed. Paola Jr BC first played against the Academy team and won like all others 5-0. Meaning that Paola Jr BC and Bloom Paola BC were in joint first place with 4 points each but Paola Jr BC had one game remaining. The match between Paola Jr BC and B’kara Jr BC featured some good games but ended in a win for the Paola team. Meaning that Paola Jr BC finished in first place unbeaten and Bloom Paola Jr finished right behind them in second place.

Well done to all the juniors that took part in the tournament especially our club members, those that played for our club teams and also the once that played in the academy team. That showed us the great work the coaches are doing and also their determination to keep improving.
